HI-FU

If you're looking for younger, tighter, more firm and radiant looking skin or looking to reduce that extra weight you just can't seem to lose maybe HI-FU is for you. It is a quick, painless, and non-invasive treatment and is an excellent alternative to surgery.

HIFU treatment is a popular option for those seeking a non-surgical facelift to tighten their skin. High-Intensity Focused Ultrasound uses ultrasound energy to encourage collagen production to make skin firmer.

If you’re older with more severe skin sagging and wrinkles, HIFU may not be able to eliminate these skin issues.

What is Hi-Fu?

HIFU treatment is a popular option for those seeking a non-surgical facelift to tighten their skin. High Intensity Focused Ultrasound uses ultrasound energy to encourage collagen production to make skin firmer.

HIFU is also ideal for body contouring post pregnancy tummy, abdomen fat, bingo wings, thighs and under the buttocks. HIFU is a very effective treatment for both inch loss and fat loss – at the same time tightening the skin! So therefore it can be used on wrinkled skin on the face and body for example ‘the knees’.

Clinical trials have found HIFU to be a safe and effective treatment for refining wrinkles and offering face lifting benefits. Results can be instant but are mainly seen within a few months after treatment and without the risks associated with facelift surgeries. Hi-Fu brings proven results with the added benefit of helping to reduce the appearance of cellulite and rejuvenation of the skin.

How Hi-Fu works

HIFU stands for ‘High Intensity Focused Ultrasound’. During this treatment, ultrasound energy is used to stimulate the deep layers which support the skin. In doing so it creates a lifted, more taut appearance and stimulates the body to produce collagen. By heating the skin tissue below the surface, it results in the skin contracting and tightening, while also forming new collagen fibres. The increase of collagen results in firmer, tighter skin with few wrinkles. Since the high-frequency ultrasound beams are focused on a specific tissue site below the skin’s surface, there’s no damage to the upper layers of the skin and adjacent issue.

What does HIFU feel like?

You may experience slight discomfort during an HIFU procedure. Some people describe it as tiny electric pulses, heat or a light prickly sensation. Some people describe it as having an elastic band flicked on their face in more sensitive areas.

If you’re worried about pain, you could always take over the counter medicine such as ibuprofen or paracetamol prior to treatment.

Immediately after the treatment, you may experience mild redness or swelling, which will gradually recede over the next few hours. Some people complain of a slight headache or toothache pain but this will ease soon after treatment usually within the hour.

HIFU for face procedure

You should remove all makeup and skin care products from the target area before treatment. Clean and bare skin with no moisturisers.

Here’s what to expect at your appointment:

  1. The technician first cleans the target area.

  2. The client will have before photographs taken for progress. The target area will be marked up using pencil and thoroughly looked at for any contra-indications before starting treatment.

  3. The technician then applies an ultrasound gel.

  4. The HIFU device is placed against the skin.

  5. Using an ultrasound viewer, the technician adjusts the device to the right setting. Always checking that the client is comfortable with the level of intensity. This will be amended throughout the treatment to suit client.

  6. Ultrasound energy is then delivered to the target area in short pulses for roughly 30 to 90 minutes.

  7. The device is removed

  8. After photographs will be taken immediately.

Client will be asked to return in 6 weeks for progression photographs and again in 12 weeks for the end results.

If additional treatments are needed, you will schedule the next treatment.

You’re free to go home and resume your normal daily activities right away after the procedure.

Am I suitable for Hi-Fu?

HIFU facial may not be appropriate for everyone. In general, the procedure works best on with mild-to-moderate skin laxity.

People with photodamaged skin or a high degree of loose skin may need several treatments before seeing results.

Older people with more extensive photo-aging, severe skin laxity, or very saggy skin on the neck aren’t good candidates and may need surgery.

HIFU isn’t recommended for people with infections and open skin wounds at the target area, severe acne, and metallic implants in the treatment area.

Hi-Fu body is suitable for most people to target stubborn fatty areas and tighten the skin however, consultation is advised. For more information, please contact us.

HIFU treatment for face side effects

HIFU is considered very safe if performed by a trained and qualified professional.

The best part about this treatment is that you’re able to resume your normal activities immediately after you leave the treatment clinic. Some slight redness or swelling may occur, but it should subside quickly. A light tingling sensation of the treated area may persist for a few weeks but shouldn’t cause concern. You may have a slight headache or toothache feeling but this should subside within the hour after procedure.

Rarely, you may experience temporary numbness or bruising, but these side effects usually go away after a few days.
